Another thing you need to consider is how you're going to be transporting your sleeping bag. If you plan to drive to most of your camping spots, and can just get your stuff out of the back of your car, then it's probably not going to matter how compactable your sleeping bag is, or how much it weighs. But if you do a lot of hiking and will need to carry your sleeping bag in your pack, these factors become vital. So again, think about how you expect to utilize your sleeping bag so that you can make the right choice. Shopping for quality sleeping bags doesn't need to be a big drama. It's probably best to stick with stores that specialize in camping supplies, unless you really only want a cheap, general-purpose sleeping bag. One of the good things about shopping in outdoors stores is that the staff are often keen on camping, and so know a lot about what type of sleeping bag is best for different types of conditions. So make sure you ask lots of questions, and you'll be able to select the right sleeping bag for your needs. Of course, you can also shop online for sleeping bags. Sometimes if you're looking for something highly specific, this is the best way to go. Not all stores are going to be able to carry every single available sleeping bag as part of their range.
