Camping Gear - Destress Camping Gear
If you're looking for peace and quiet, nothing can beat
camping out in Mother Nature. Nothing but you, a cheerful
campfire, and lots of trees. Well, hopefully nothing else!
Leave behind the people and smog, and relax for the weekend.
It sounds irresistible, but before you head off for the
nearest patch of trees, stop and do some planning first.
What sort of camping gear do you already have? This is
important, and you need to think about it. It's great to get
away from the modern world for a while, but that doesn't
necessarily mean you want to sleep on the ground under the
stars, either. If you don't have all the camping gear you
need, that's okay. There are plenty of places online where
you can check out camping gear, compare different brands and
buy what you need.
If you haven't been camping before, you might not be sure
exactly what type of camping gear you should look for.
Unless you want to take a chance on the weather staying
fine, a tent is often a good place to start. Sleeping under
the stars sounds romantic, but it's not so much fun if a
storm moves in overnight, or if the local insects and
wildlife find you very interesting.
Cooking over a campfire requires a decent campfire grill, or
if you're likely to be camping when there's fire
restrictions or a lack of campfire fuel, you may want to
look at a camping stove. You'll also need a couple of pans
to cook food in, and a few utensils to stir and turn food
with. Be warned - taking the best utensils from your kitchen
drawer is never a good idea! They have a tendency to get
lost, burnt, melted or just plain grubby.
A good camping lantern, or at the very least a strong torch
with fresh batteries, is also handy. You never know when you
might need to go wandering in the middle of the night, and
you don't want to have to rely on the moon and stars.
You might also find it easier to sleep if you have some sort
of mat between you and the ground. Also, make sure your
sleeping bag is suitable for the conditions you're camping
in. There's no point having a lightweight summer bag if the
nights get frosty. You want to enjoy your camping
experience, not spend the whole night shivering.
Finally, if you're planning to camp well into the
wilderness, away from a car park or road, you need to be
able to carry everything with you. Modern backpacks
incorporate all sorts of wonderful comfort features, as well
as being designed for everything from a casual stroll around
the local park to serious trekking and wilderness
enthusiasts. You will need to spend some time deciding what
exactly you need from your backpack, but that time will pay
off.
Buying camping gear doesn't need to be expensive, and it
also doesn't mean you need to take a truck with you when you
go camping. Spend some time thinking about where you're
planning to go, what sort of conditions you'll be camping
in, and make your camping gear choices carefully. If you do
it right, you will easily be able to carry your camping gear
wherever you want to go. Have a fabulous time in the great
outdoors!
